Checking in
So as my last entry said, I expected to be able to update on Thursday or Friday, after I got out of the long days of orientation and into my new place. Sure enough, I sat down and opened my laptop on Friday night, at the beginning of a three-day weekend with plenty of time to write... only to find that it had stopped charging entirely.
I thought the replacement charger I'd recently ordered was defective, so I bought a new one with good ratings off Coupang, only to realize that no, it's the laptop throwing a tantrum. Love that for me!
I'm taking it in for repair tomorrow, but a longer update will have to wait for a fix, unless I get so impatient I decide it seems worthwhile to type a couple thousand words and struggle to insert images on my phone.
Long story short: orientation went well. I learned stuff, saw a big drum, and met a lot of cool people. My new coworkers are very kind, the English center is adorable, and I'm settling into my new apartment and exploring the neighborhood. Tomorrow is the first day of the spring term, though we don't start instruction on our end until next week.
I promise this isn't the extent of what I have to say about the past couple of weeks. You all will get more detail than you can handle (or realistically want) as soon as it's manageable! For now, though, it's time for bed to face the first day of school bright-eyed.
(P.S. Adding to the tech chaos, if you replied directly to my last update, I apologize but I didn't get it. After Mom asked, I realized that Ghost's default settings route replies to a, well, ghost inbox. I've fixed the relevant setting, so any future replies should come to my actual email.)
